The Sphere standards are among the most widely recognized and respected humanitarian guidelines in the world, providing a comprehensive framework to ensure quality, accountability, and dignity in humanitarian assistance. Developed through global collaboration, the Sphere Handbook sets out core principles, the Humanitarian Charter, and detailed minimum standards across key sectors such as WASH, shelter, food security, health, and protection. By promoting evidence-based practices and rights-focused approaches, Sphere helps organizations deliver more effective and accountable responses during crises. As the Sphere focal point in Iran for more than two decades, ICRI has played a central role in translating, disseminating, and training national and international actors on these vital standards to enhance the quality of humanitarian action across the country.
